Eric Clapton: Tears in Heaven

By | October 31, 2007

I woke up this morning with the song in my head, looked for it on Youtube, and decided to share it. He was recently interviewed by Larry King on CNN. I couldn’t find a link to the edition on the CNN website, but you can subscribe to the podcast through iTunes at the CNN podcasts page. Eric Clapton has an interesting story to tell. The text of the song is below.

Tears in Heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven
I’ll find my way, through night and day
Cause I know I just can’t stay
Here in heaven

Time can bring you down
Time can bend your knee
Time can break your heart
Have you begging please
Begging please

(instrumental)

Beyond the door
There’s peace I’m sure.
And I know there’ll be no more…
Tears in heaven

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven
Will it be the same
If I saw you in heaven
I must be strong, and carry on
Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

Cause I know I don’t belong
Here in heaven

You are such a wuss, man.
    Clapton?
    Tears in MF heaven?
    Where did that come from?
I am sorry, but was someone you know just defenestrated or something?
Why don’t you wake up with music which Says Yes! To Life with a little less melancholy and with a bit more, well, attitude?

Felix, are you – like myself – a non-native speaker of English? If so, I recommend you look up the word “wuss” in the English/your-language dictionary, because you are obviously unaware of its meaning.

Dear Anja, despite being a non-native speaker of English I think I am highly aware of what the term means. Why, I have been using it for years now.
But of course, I will accomodate you: Let’s see, LEO is available online, and it says (in the language I am native to) “Memme, Schwächling, Weichei, Weichling”. Lo! and behold, this is exactly what I intended to convey.
[In case your post was intended to be more subtle. and wasn’t actually about the term, and you were instead upset that I was unduly insulting the blogger, yes, of course, mutual insults have been defining our relationship ever since we met. And if he exposes his black floppy belly to me in such a purty way, I would surprise if he hadn’t expected me to take a stab at him.]
So I guess I am saying: What a weird comment you left.

Whoah. No edit function. That’s a step in the wrong direction.
Please read the second to last sentence “I would be surprised if he hadn’t” etc.

Probably not. 😛 So the blogger who likes weird songs… connect the dots, loomnie, will you. As the prophet says.
Anyway, beware the HelloHalleHalleGoodbyeParty! You will suffer when you get back here. SUFFER, I say.
